Designing trustworthy IoT systems: Critical challenges and approaches for generating value

At the end of 20th century, Internet Things term was first introduced. Since then, phenomenon behind this technological development is still fast-growing with estimates more than 75 billion IoT devices readily connected to by 2025. During use, each these generates valuable data for end-user whilst negotiating cybersecurity challenges low secured employ. Whilst security have presented businesses extensive opportunities value creation, there are only a handful studies exploring and related security, privacy, trust in platforms systems from business perspective. Through series semi-structured interviews top-level managers different organisations across various industries UK, methodological approach developed capture address creation business’ perspective which factors at core process. This research identifies four critical approaches namely: continuous scaling-up, co-creation, data-driven user-centric design. These provide comprehensive understanding on how activities critically cyber they affect factors. study timely an academic audience since it contributes initiating body literature regards application managerial enables industry practitioners generate better relations between concerns.
